DAAD IIT Master Sandwich Programme highlights

This is a scholarship program which gives the opportunity to Post Graduating IIT students to complete the M.Tech. Dissertation form any of the 9 Technical universities of Germany, it does not give you a degree but adds significance to your resume. The duration of Scholarship is 7 months. The detailed Notice can be found here.

This is not a job but a research oriented opportunity, best for those who see themselves doing research in India or Ph.D. from abroad.

The total cost which you will have to bear is flight tickets and the semester fees of the German University. You will also get a stipend of 750 Euros per month (& 250 Euro one time) which would be sufficient to support you financially in Germany.

If you really wish to do your M.Tech. Dissertation in a German Technical University, start up now and prepare for your semester exam from today, because if you want to go for sure you will have to get at least 9 SGPA in your first semester for an assured seat to Germany. The reason being, before forwarding the application from college to the Delhi DAAD Office, a ranking list is prepared. So if you have a good SGPA obviously you have a good chance.

  2. Hey, could you please let me know if the grades during Bachelor's degree also play a role, or do only M.Tech semester grades matter. What if my grades during the Bachelor's degree is quite low?

    1. Its hard to comment if the Bachelor's grade play a role, because the complete evaluation system is unknown. But my feeling is that only the M.Tech. grades help.

    2. Thank you for the information. It is quite useful. Just one more question: A cutoff CGPA has been mentioned to be 8.0 in their website. Is it bachelor's CGPA or the 1st semester M.Tech CGPA?

    2. Hi,
Well there are no rules defined by DAAD for the selection. What seems to matter is the CGPA, your field, your professor. I feel that DAAD somehow tries to balance the number of students across fields. So if more numberof students apply from your field, then in order to have a good chance of selection your CGPA should be higher. May be your local seniors can help in this regards.
